Airlift Story
Ranjit Katyal (Akshay Kumar) is a wealthy and powerful Indian businessman settled in Kuwait. He gets married to Amrita (Nimrat Kaur), and feels proud to be a citizen of Kuwaiti, rather than an Indian.
After Iraq invaded Kuwait, Ranjit’s life takes an interesting turn, where he had to evacuate 1.70 lakh Indians, safely back to their home country. How does he perform the task forms the plot of the Airlift.
Airlift Analysis
Being a war movie, that too based on a real life incident, Airlift earned a good attention. The movie has a simple and straightforward story, about a heroic evacuation that has won a place in the Guinness World Records for India. The screenplay is very gripping and realistic which gives an edge of the seat experience.
Performance
No doubt, Akshay Kumar is the major asset of the movie. His stupendous performance, takes the film, to the next level. Even Nimrat Kaur, Feryna Wazheir, Inaamulhaq, Lena, Purab Kohli, Kumud Mishra and Prakash Belawadi have also done a fantastic job, and their realistic performances give the audience, a lively experience.
On the technical front, Amaal Mallik and Ankit Tiwari's music and background score suits the mood of the movie and Priya Seth's cinematography, Hemanti Sarkar's editing are perfect, with not many identifiable flaws. The production values are on the top notch. The key aspects of these type of movies is the narration. In that aspect, Raja Menon is perfect in giving the gripping narration to the chosen plot.
Airlift Final Word
With not many commercial elements, Airlift is a fine war thriller, that suit the thriller audience, best, for its nail biting content.
