Superstar Rajinikanth's younger daughter and film director Soundarya Rajinikanth was appointed as brand ambassador for Animal Welfare Board Of India. However, this has opposed by a pro-Jallikattu outfit.

Cadres of Tamilar Veeravilayaatu Meetpu Kazhagam (a pro-Jallikattu outfit) torn and set fire to portraits of Soundarya, as the filmmaker supporting AWBI stands decisively against the conduct of Jallikattu.

Staging a protest near Tiruchy railway junction, the pro-Jallikattu outfit demanded that should Soundarya resign from her post. They warn her to continue protests until she resigns from her post.

They claim that Rajinikanth himself acted in Tamil movie Murattu Kaalai playing a role of Bull Tamer which helped him gain a place in the hearts of rural youths. So, being daughter of a superstar, Soundarya's appointment into AWBI is unfortunate and intolerable, according to them.

AWBI played a vital role in in preventing the conduct of jallikattu by approaching the Supreme Court against the Central government's notice permitting the bull taming event during the Pongal festival this year.
