New Censor Chief vows for changes

The New Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification [CBFC] Pahlaj Nihalani vowed to clean up films and make censorship an unquestionable exercise. Nihalani wants to bring down the amount of violence in films  and the use of abusive language too. “I am definitely going to change the way films are censored, so that once a film is given certificate there is no controversy or doubts about its credibility. There will accountability and no room for ambiguity in the censoring process,” said the new Censor chief.

The producer turned chairperson also opines that guidelines for censoring of a film were not properly followed and so everytime a big film releases which is based on a social issue, it turns into a controversy. “The dos and don'ts were always very clearly laid out for the CBFC members. But they were never properly implemented. Board members were frequently clueless about the guidelines. One can't blame them,” he added.

Pahlaj Nihalani was appointed as the chairperson of CBFC following the resignation of the predecessor  Leela Samson.
