Maharashtra Govt to rope in Aamir as ambassador

Maharashtra Government has been pursuing the elusive Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador for the noble cause of the de-addiction campaign. Aamir had not mentioned his intents or made any comments on the same but he had acknowledged the offer. The government hoped a positive response but that has not stopped them from pursuing other stars for the same.

Maharashtra's minister for social justice Shivajirao Moghe said, “The first-ever literary meet with an anti-addiction theme will be organised on October 2 at Pune. Literary figures, artistes and organisations working in the field will be invited”.

There are also several cash awards for the people who promote the anti-addiction via any of the media such as plays, articles, news reports and awareness campaigns.

He mentioned that addiction had been the woe of several thousands of families and it has always been increasing but there was no effort from the literary side of the media to curb the practice except for the drab and always ignored statutory warning before most films. “I believe more that a play, a work of art or literature can motivate people to give up addiction, more than the law," he said.

He said that well-known social worker Sindhutai Sapkal has accepted to campaign. "Sapkal should be very effective with women who bear the brunt, when families are destroyed as men become slaves of vices," he said.
