South Indian filmmaker K Balachander, the director who has made some well known films that will be remembered till when the Indian Cinema is remembered, be is a complete love story ‘Maro Charitra’ or the jouney of a woman ‘Antuleni Katha’ or n number of T.V. Serials that have been entertaining the audience since more than a decade. According to senior officials in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Pratibha Patil would hand over the awards in a star studded ceremony in the Vigyan Bhawan here.The 81-year-old writer-director-producer has directed nearly 80 films in his career and launched the career of Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth.

This director, who is not concentrating on making films these years, has given Indian Cinema some memorable movies, that will be remembered for the life time and are all time hits.
