Film writer complains of police manhandling

vijendra-prasadWell known Tollywood director Rajamouli’s father and story writer V Vijayendra Prasad lodged a complaint to the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Tuesday alleging that the DCP of the Central Crime Station Mr J Satyanarayana had manhandled him based on a false complaint of cheating lodged by producer Chengala Venkat Rao against him.

Vijayendra Prasad said in his complaint that he was forced to sign on cheques worth Rs 60 lakh and a team of officers from the central crime station beat him up on April 16 and hurled abuses at him.

Mr Prasad said he and Chengala Venkat Rao had come to an agreement in 2004. According to the agreement, Vengal Rao agreed to pay him Rs. 63 lakh for providing script to his film ‘Narasimhudu’ and he was given an advance of Rs.22 lakh.

He produced the movie using a plot given by another script writer, he said in his complaint. “But he neither returned the script nor paid me the balance amount,” he said in his complaint.

Taking note of the complaint, the acting chairperson of Human Rights Commission directed the Hyderabad police commissioner to enquire and submit a detailed report on the issue by June 21.
