Every Smartphone to have ‘Panic Button’: Delhi Police to HC

Delhi Police has informed Delhi High Court about Panic button which will be added in every smartphone starting January 1, 2017, to serve citizens in distress.

Delhi Police is planning to launch a free emergency number 112 to give away with all emergency numbers presently in operation, including 100 (Police) , 101 (Fire), 102 (Ambulance) and 108 (Disaster Management). The city Police told a division bench of Justice BD Ahmed and Justice Ashutosh Kumar on October 26 that all present emergency numbers would be used as secondary and will be re-routed to 100 till 112 emergency number is available.

In response to this, the court has asked Delhi State Legal Service Authority Member Secretary Dharmesh Sharma to investigate all police stations across Delhi to review the steps utilized by police during reviewing any crime case.
