Cheer Leaders fall short of entertainment in T20 World Cup 2012

Cheer leaders have become a part of Cricket once the shorter T20 format was introduced. Ultimately the shorter form of the game was just entertainment and these girls are supposed to add on. But things seem to have turned out differently at the  ongoing T20 World Cup 2012 in Sri Lanka. There were numerous complains over the choice of the cheer leaders and their performance too. While the Sri Lankan Board says that the whole concept was organized by the ICC and island nation had no say on it.

"The impression created by these cheerleaders is not acceptable," Nishantha Ranatunga, secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket said earlier. "We complained to the ICC (International Cricket Council) that this is harming the image of Sri Lanka. "We had a lot of negative feedback which we passed on to the ICC as we had nothing to do with selecting the dance troupes."

The impact of the cheer leaders was under sharp criticism by global media and Sri Lanka became very much embarrassed, over the issue. The dancers, who are dressed in blue leggings, striped skirts and T-shirts bearing advertising slogans, have been attacked in the Sri Lankan media for their amateur dancing and symmetry less ordeals.
