Archery: India's Deepika Kumari reigns supreme globally

Sports is one field where overnight players turn into celebrity. Well by saying this phrase, I don't mean to say that they have gained prominence with out hard work. But what I simply mean is that when they were tiring to get to the top, we are unaware. As soon as they reach their peaks, the spot light is on them. Earlier other than cricket we had nothing to talk about, but off late we have experts and world tops in other games too. As per the last weeks performances, India's ace woman Archer Deepika Kumari beats her South Korea rival Bo Bae Ki to reach the world number one position. Deepika is the hope of the nation to haul the gold at the London Olympics scheduled in September this year.

Deepika moves from the third position to the first position with a points tally of 253. As per records she is the lone Indian in the top 20 and the second Indian after Dola Banerjee to achieve this feat. In her quiver she has the World Cup Individual recurve gold medal at Antalya along with  gold medall at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. She also has the prestegeous  Cadet World Title in 2009 in her list.

Deepika will represent the Nation in the game at the London Olympics alongwith team mates Laishram Bombayla Devi, Chekrovolu Swuro and Jayanta Talukdar. WIshesh wishes the Indian Archery Team a great success at the London Olympics. Watch this space for more Olympic updates.... (With inputs from internet-AarKay)
