Kolkata IPL Champs, Mission accomplished for Gambhir, Chennai hat trick dream foiled

Sharukh's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bulldozed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final match in the fifth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) to mark a new era. Kolkata are the new IPL champs as they win against Chennai by six wickets at M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on Sunday. CSK on a hat trick dream run was foiled by the KKR. Chennai fans were a little disappointed over the result, however entertainment was unlimited. Gambhir’s nomination as the captain by Sharukh the franchiser of KKR had paid off well. For Gambhir it was `mission accomplished’. Hence Kolkata are the reigning IPL Champs for the fifth season

Captain cool MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first on the D-Day. Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey opened the innings and gave a good start to the CSK. Later Suresh Raina chipped in quite comfortably and the three together played a magnificent knock. In between them they made 42, 54 and 73 respectively, taking the CSK score to 190/3 in the stipulated overs. The huge total brought confidence on the CSK fans. They felt the match was a mere formality as on home fronts none of the rival teams had defeated them above a score of 170 and this was miles away.

And the confidence of the home team was fuelled further when the KKR skipper Gambhir dreaded for his fiery with the willow, succumbed to Ben Hilfenhaus in the first over for a mere 2 runs. But it was the less known Manvinder Bisla, whose inclusion into the squad for the titanic clash raised many eye brows, made the difference. Manvinder devastated the CSK bowling and scored 89 runs in 49 balls with eight boundaries and 5 sixes. This made a huge difference to the match and the skipper’s timely choice favored the team. Jacques Kallis also rose to the occasion and completed the formality by scoring a blistering 69 runs. KKR won the match by scoring 192/5 in 19.4 overs. Bisla is the man of the day and was awarded the Man of the Match. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
