Good news for Indian tennis, both pairs shine in Oz opens

Indian Tennis team say, `the focus will be on all the Grand Slams ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.’

On the third day at the Australian Open at Melbourne Wednesday, seems to be very comfortable for Indian Tennis fans with their doubles heroes stealing the show in the first rounds. Rohan Bopanna, who teamed up with Mahesh Bhupathi cruised ahead of their Australian rivals Matthew Ebden and Chris Guccione after an initial hitch. On the other hand another Indian ace tennis champ Leander Paes teamed up with his Czech partner Radek Stepanek conquered their Australian opponents, Greg Jones and John-Patrick Smith.

On court 7, Paes with his partner Stepanek dueled for about an hour and thirteen minutes, against Jones and Smith. The match saw Paes team grab 65 points and win the combat with 6-2, 6-2.

Comparatively on court 3, Mahesh with Boppanna beat their Australian opponents in a much gruesome match, with 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. The match saw the winning pair grab 92 points, although their opponents were just behind with 85 points. The Australian pair showed much consistency, but finally it was the Indian pair that won.

After the match Boppanna spoke to the journalists and said, ` Right, we're here in Australia. Our focus is to do well at this Slam and then take it further, all the way towards the Olympics.’

The Indo-Czech pair of Paes and Stepanek will play 14th seeded Italians Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini in the second round.
