i1 Supercar Series schedule postponed to February, in Noida

The much awaited inaugural i1 Supercar Series, Indian-based motorsport league, is postponed to next month at the Noida BIC.

India’s inaugural i1 Supercar Series scheduled this month is postponed to February due to the ongoing elections in Uttar Pradesh. The event will now be held between Feb 10 and April 1, according to a press release from the promoters Machdar Motorsports. The release stated that the city-based franchise team series was postponed in view of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh where the Formula One Buddh International Circuit is located. The BIC was central to the series. The revised calendar was announced on Wednesday in New Delhi.

The first round of the series will now be held in Doha, Qatar on Feb 10-11, followed by races in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and India. The last race of the series will be held at the Buddh International Circuit March 31-April 1, the release added.

Machdar Motorsports officially announced the much awaited inaugural i1 Supercar Series, Indian-based motorsport league. It was done at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi on 20 December 2011, by introducing a staggering line-up of drivers who will take part in it. The list of drivers will see the likes of 1997 F1 Champion Jacques Villeneuve, 2011 F1 drivers Vitantonio Liuzzi and Karun Chandhok. It will also include former Formula One race winners Giancarlo Fisichella, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Jean Alesi. Along with the starry line-up of international drivers, the Indian A-list drivers would have Armaan Ebrahim, Aditya Patel and Parthiva Sureswaren.
