India seal ODI with Caribbeans 4-1, Pollard shines, Tiwary blasts

The West Indies were never settled in the entire tour and neither made gigantic efforts to make a comeback. The batting rattled and the bowling was feeble. Neither of the matches did they show prowess befitting a winning team. In the fifth ODI at Chennai Chepauk stadium on Sunday, it was the usual batting efficiency of the hosts dominated heavily over the bowling desperacy of the visitors.

India clinch the title in style with a 34-run win against the West Indies, in the final ODI. Manoj Tewary's 104 (125b, 10 x 4, 1 x 6) and his 117-run partnership with Virat Kohli (80 off 85 balls) that ended when the former retired due to cramps, helped India score 267 for six after losing two wickets in the first over. In reply, the West Indies caved in for 233 despite a power-packed 119 (110b, 4 x 4, 10 x 6) by Kieron Pollard and 53 by Andre Russell.

Kemar Roach and Anthony Martin claimed two wickets each when the hosts batted. On the other hand when the guests batted Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets, Irfan Pathan and Abhimanyu Mithun claimed two each.

Tiwary clinched the ‘Man of the Match’ trophy while R Sharma received the ‘Man of the Series’ award for his consistent performance with the bat in the series. And so India won the ODI series against West Indies with 4-1.
