Yogeshwar Dutt Faced Shocking Defeat In 65Kg Freestyle Wrestling

Yogeshwar Dutt, India’s one of the top wrestlers, faced a shocking defeat in a qualification round as he was beaten by Mongolia’s Gonzorigiin Mandakhnaran and ended India’s Olympic campaign with two medals in total won by Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu in 58 kg women’s freestyle and women’s singles badminton event respectively at Rio Olympics 2016

Yogeshwar Dutt, who had won a bronze medal at London Olympics, had to depend on his Mongolian opponent to stay his hopes alive to go forward in the tournament. However, as Mandakhnaran lost in the quarter finals, it was all over for Dutt as well as for India.

He showed extremely poor show at the match and the 33-year old wrestler from Haryana lost to the Mongolian grappler 0-3. Mandakhnaran showed some outstanding skills and played at a good pace and Dutt had no answer for his skills.

Dutt, who qualified for Rio Olympics in March after a knee injury, could not score the required points in the second half as well after being trailing 0-3 till the break which resulted into his shocking defeat in the 65 Kg freestyle event. Although in last minute he tried to pin down his opponent but all his efforts went in vain as he could not capitalize on it.

With Yogeshwar Dut’s shocking ousting from the Rio Olympics, India have finished it’s Olympic campaign with winning one silver and one bronze respectively by PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik. Among the 119 player contingent, which was largest in any Olympics game from India, Indian athletes could not win enough medals and disappointed the nation.
