Top Seed Serena Williams has won the Australian Open 2015 trophy defeating Russia's Maria Sharapova with 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) scores. This is Serena's sixth Australian Open title and 19th Grandslam title and is only three behind Steffi Graf's record of 22 titles.
It was a tough fight between the top seeds but in the end Serena had the edge. The 33 year old, broke the Russian beauty serve in the first set and took it with 6-3. However, Sharapova got back into the game strongly in the second set which led to a tie breakers. But Sharapova who was under severe pressure, had to bow down before Serena. With 7-5 score in the tie breaker, Serena won the second set too and clinched the title.
The Men's final is slated on Sunday night, Novak Djokovic will be fighting with England's Andy Murray.
