Royal Enfield Museum soon!

India has a rich heritage in its automotive segment and that statement is automatically synonymous with the prestigious Royal Enfield group. There are patrons of this two wheelers from the Eicher Motors stable who would love to see a museum of the line of vehicles since the ancient times. Royal Enfield has heard their pleas and has come up with an idea, a first in India, to set up a Heritage Museum for their Royal Enfield bikes since the embarkment into the industry.

The bigger nations with greater economies and better automotive wealth have these museums for the fans. Though Royal Enfield has no specific date on the same, it promised one for the people of India in the near future. This will make the first public display of the Indian automotive heritage despite having homebred companies like Tata, Mahindra etc since more than 50 years.

Mercedes has one musuem of this kind in Stuttgart and Suzuki also has one in hometown, Hammamatsu.

"The museum is definitely something Royal Enfield will put up though the time frame etc has not been fixed," said a top Eicher Motor's official.

In the outskirts of Chennai the new Royal Enfield plant could be the likely spot for the museum. There is another Rs 150 Cr factory being setup which, pioneering again in India, will have a visitors gallery for the people to see how the bikes are made in the factories. One plant in Tiruvottiyur, Chennai is already on the Lonely Planet's must visit places for bike enthusiasts. A tour every Saturday will take in vistors with a guided tour of the plant.

Meanwhile, have you checked out the biking accessories from Royal Enfield yet?
