First Test: England Beats Team India By 227 Runs:- The first test between India and England came to an end after Indian batsmen tumbled down on the last day after they were placed a target of 420. India started the chase after their overnight score of 39/1 and they could not withstand the pace of English bowlers. India went all out for 192 in their second innings and lost the test match to England by 227 runs. The test match completed in the second session of the final day. Shubman Gill (50), Virat Kohli (72) are the only Indian batsmen who managed to get respectable scores in the second innings.
Jack Leach (4/76), James Anderson (3/17) got the best numbers among the English bowlers. Jofra Archer, Dom Bess and Ben Stokes took one wicket each in the second innings. With this defeat, India slips down to the fourth place in the ICC Test Rankings. England is now leading the four test series by 1-0. The second test will take place on February 13th in Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India lost their first test match in home in since 2017. India lost their first five wickets in their morning session and the rest in the second session.
