BCCI Scraps the Curtain-Raiser of IPL Event:- The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is spending Rs 30 crores on the opening ceremony of IPL every year. The top stars from Bollywood are roped in and they are paid a bomb for their minute's performance. Right from 2008, every season had a grand curtain-raiser event. The latest update is that BCCI decided to scrap the curtain-raiser event in the coming years calling it a waste of money. The decision was taken during the IPL Governing Council meeting that took place recently.

BCCI is also in plans to bring 'no-ball umpire' into existence which has been under discussion from the past few years. BCCI collected the feedback which said that the cricket lovers are not much interested or bothered about the opening ceremony. “The opening ceremonies are a waste of money. The cricket fans don’t seem to be interested, and the performers have to be paid a lot" said an official from the BCCI. This year, the opening ceremony was scrapped due to the Pulwama attacks and after this BCCI decided to scrap the event completely.
