Rain Stalls First Semifinal: India and New Zealand to Take on the Reserve Day:- As expected, rain played a spoiler sport in the first World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Indian bowlers have shown sheer domination right from the first ball. New Zealand made 211/5 in 46.1 overs after which the match was called off. Though the umpires inspected the ground thrice, they found no situation for the match to be continued. Hence, the match was called off for the day and it will resume today at 2.30 PM (Indian time) on the reserve day.
New Zealand will complete their innings after which India will take up the chase. India will be declared as the winner if the match doesn't resume on the reserve day as they are on the top of the table. There is rain forecast on Wednesday too and the weather is not promising for a smooth match. No clear skies are expected on Wednesday but the match will continue as per the weather update. The rain will have a chance to interrupt the match. If India completes at least 20 overs of batting and rain interrupts the play, the winner will be decided by DLS method.
