Smart glasses to assist poor vision people

British's Oxford University researchers have developed new range smart glasses that will help people with poor vision. This smart glass don't replace lost vision but assist people with spatial awareness.

The design of smart glass consist of a video camera mounted on the frame of the glasses, a pocket size CPU  and runs with a software that provides images of objects close-by to the see-through displays in the eyepieces of the glasses. The transparent electronic displays give a simple image of nearby people and obstacles eventually enable to have a smooth process.

The glasses work particularly well in low light conditions and can also be used to cope with night blindness. Currently the researchers are testing the venues to test this glasses and about 30 volunteers have been roped to conduct the test.

Last year the researchers have made preliminary tests with about 20 volunteers and the study proved that people can used this glasses instantly. Anyway this is still in the progress and required some more time.
