Scientists brought into prominence on Tuesday that they had discovered evidence that a lack of sleep causes changes in brain activity that further lead to people feeling hungrier along with eager desire towards more fattening foods.
Furthermore, researchers have long pointed to a correlation between a sharp elevation in obesity in industrialised nations along with a diminishing factor in sleep duration. A causal link was suspected, yet science has not been able to explain the mechanism as of now. In fact, a team from the University of California explained they used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to spot changes in the brain activity of sleep-disadvantaged test subjects.
