NRI doctor ends life as parents reject his love

An Indian doctor working in the United Kingdom allegedly committed suicide when their parents reportedly rejected his proposal to marry a girl he liked. Thirty-three-year-old Madhu Honnaiah was basically from Bengaluru and went to London to work at Swansea hospital. He apparently fell in love with 32-year-old Dr Emma Wrighton. They both seemed to have even engaged officially but victim's parents allegedly objected his wish to marry Dr Emma citing cultural differences. Dr Madhu, who was an anesthetist, injected two drugs, which are used for surgery and committed suicide. This incident took place in April 2010 and inquest hearing was held last week It was confirmed that the doctor committed suicide only because his parents tried to solemnize his wedding with someone from his caste in Bengaluru.
