NRI woman dies of rabies

An NRI in Britain has become the first woman in seven years who died of rabies. Fifty-eight-year-old Sharanjit Ubhi used to stay in London. She recently visited her son's home in India where her son's pet dog bit her in her right arm. She ignored the wound and returned to London after a couple of days.

Ubhi later developed pain in her arm and approached Darent Valley Hospital with complaints of pain in arm but didn't reveal to the doctors that she was subjected to dog bite.  When this woman developed hydrophobia, doctors suspected symptoms of rabies and was sent in for special treatment. She, however succumbed to rabies. The family members of Ubhi said that the wound was so petty that she though it would not affect her.
