Ramoovalia appeals NRIs to contribute for devp of Punjab

With NRI’s coming forward and giving their contributions for the developments of sports and societies, many leaders’ focus has now turned towards the NRI league. They have been appealing NRIs for more contributions for the welfare of several of countrymen.

In a recent incident, the former union minister and senior Akali Dal leader, Balwant Singh Ramoowalia has called upon the Non-Resident Indians to show their patriotic feeling. He has wooed them to come forward and give their contributions for the development of Punjab.

He made these statements at a press conference in Batinda. He has saod that Punjabi NRIs have maintained a distance from the mainstream and said that their grievances would soon be redressed by the government.

Balwant Singh has also hailed the Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal. Ramoowalia has said that Prakash Singh Badal had followed the ideology of Akali Dal leader Master Tara Singh. He has also hailed Badal for influencing Punjabis across the globe.

It may be recalled that an NRI recently gave hefty amounts as his contribution towards promoting hockey. With Ramoowalia appealing for funds from overseas, it’s most likely that non-resident Indians are likely to respond to it favourably. (Phani)
