Vodafone revenue jump by 15 pc

Telecom operator, Vodafone India posted a 15 per cent rise in revenues for the third quarter of 2014. The revenues for the last quarter stood at 1.1 billion pound and the maximum revenue generated from its mobile data usage. From the total revenue, mobile data revenue stood at 70 percent while 30 percent growth in date customers and 40 percent growth in average data usage per customer, was reported.

The company claimed it has added 4.8 million customers in the third quarter and the total customer base stood at 178.7 million. The London based company said it had added 11,000 2G and 15,000 3G sites to generate more revenue from its mobile data services. The voice rates continue to be the same and unlikely a hike in near future.

The results of Vodafone were absolutely encouraging and they came a day after its competitor, AirTel revenue rose 12.6 per cent with a 61.9 per cent increase in mobile data revenue.
