Inflation drops to 5-month low

India's inflation eased to a five-month low in December on lower vegetable prices. The wholesale price index (WPI), India's main inflation indicator, recorded an annual 6.16 percent last month, its slowest pace since July 2013. The vegetable prices have fallen down by 30 percent from November, bringing down overall food inflation for the month to 13.68 percent from 19.93 percent a month ago.

The Reserve Bank of India may ease interest rates and will announce its quarterly monetary policy review on January 28.
