Vijay Mallya's airline might be in trouble but its liquor counterparts have been going great. The United Spirits Limited on Thursday reported that in 2012-13, the company had clocked a high sales figure of $3.8 billion for the year making it the first liquor company to witness a double digit growth over the past year.

These sales include half billion 750 ml bottles of whisky, rum and brandy though the most popular outgoing liquor is whisky under this brand. Mc Dowell's now has surged to become the biggest and largest beverage franchise in India in terms of volume and value too.

The officials from USL mentioned that this is the highest amount of growth rate that any beverage company had every achieved after their 12% growth in the movie. "The company has created an unprecedented landmark yet again in the history of alcoholic beverage industry in the world," he said.
