Honda to Unveil a New Seven-Seater Asia-specific SUV

The Filipino arm of Honda Cars has announced that Honda will be debuting a new 7-seater SUV at the sixth edition of the PIMS (Philippine International Motor Show). The event is scheduled to happen between September 14 and 18, 2016, at Metro Manila in the World Trade Center.

The all new SUV will be meant for the Asian markets, as the design and development comes from the Honda's Thailand research facility and will be sold exclusively in the Asian markets. Similarly, chances are that the new SUV will not be a premium offering but will provide more of functionality as an entry-level compact SUV.

With more of comfort, features and function, it will also get a rugged look and display slight off-road qualities like best-in-class ground clearance, etc. New alloy wheels are also mentioned by the Honda. As a 7-seater, the interior space will also be commodious and will sport the best of safety equipment.

The new SUV would be launched in Philippines first, before launching the SUV in India. The Honda will try to capitalize on the craze for compact SUVs in India. If launched in India, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300 would be the immediate segment rivals of the Philippine-based SUV of the Honda. Already, the Honda BR-V has been taking on the premium SUVs the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.

For the Honda, the new compact SUV is also expected to do well within its segment in almost all the Asian countries, wherever it will be sold.
