A total number of 2,47,417 new cases of coronavirus are reported in India in the last 24 hours. The new cases are on a huge rise and the surge is huge because of the ongoing Omicron variant. 84,825 people recovered completely from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours and the active cases in the country climbed to 11,17,531. The positivity rate in the country reached 13.11 percent. The confirmed Omicron cases in the country are said to be 5488. 380 people passed away in the country due to coronavirus and the total deaths caused due to coronavirus are 4,85,035.

The Health experts told that the wave of coronavirus due to the Omicron variant will reach the peaks by the end of January or during early February. The cases reported in the last 24 hours are 27 percent more than the previous day which is a clear indication that the new cases are rising on a faster note. The officials of the WHO told that Omicron variant is equally dangerous and wanted everyone to get vaccinated. WHO also said that the hospitalization is more in the people who are unvaccinated. The country's total coronavirus tally is said to be 3.63 crores and the active cases are 3.08 percent of the total infections reported in the country. The total number of vaccinations administered in India in total are 154.61 crores.
