Omicron Risk Is Quite High Says WHO:- The new variant of coronavirus named Omicron which is traced in South Africa is fast spreading across all the countries. The entire globe is worried about the new variant which is said to be dangerous and highly transmissible. The World Health Organization (WHO) said that Omicron has a very high risk of infection and it could lead to severe consequences in some of the regions. WHO urged the 194 nations to increase the vaccination drive and vaccinate the maximum number of people at the earliest. Some of the scientists and health experts said that the available vaccines will not work for Omicron. Till date, no deaths due to Omicron are reported and further updates can be known only through a detailed research.

WHO said that the impact on vulnerable populations will be substantial in countries which have low vaccination coverage. Omicron was first reported in South Africa on November 24th and the infections reached a record number in no time. The new cases of the variant are reported in Denmark, Australia and Netherland. Several countries of the globe closed their doors and borders for the international travelers. The Indian government issued a high alert and the screening is happening for international travelers coming from several nations where the risk of Omicron is high. Omicron has multiple mutations of the spike protein and is highly transmissible.
