Telangana Weavers Possess a Unique Identity says KTR:- Telangana Minister for Informational Technology and Industries, KT Rama Rao attended the celebrations of the National Handloom Day in Hyderabad at People's Plaza as a special guest. KTR on the occasion addressed the gathering and he said that the weavers of Telangana possess a unique identity in the country. KTR said that the government is working for the economic development of the handloom workers since 2018 and several awards are given for handloom workers under the name of Konda Lakshman Bapuji. A cash prize of Rs 25,000 is awarded every year for the best handloomers of the state. 31 handloomers are finalized for the award for their work this year.

KTR also said that the government is also organizing exhibitions of handlooms every year to place the products of handlooms available for the public. The government also launched an e-Golconda portal that will promote the skills of handloom workers for the country. The handloom products will be sold through these websites. There are several new designs that are available from the last four years that will appeal for future generations. KTR also lauded the Armoom silk sarees, Siddipet Gollabama sarees, Double Ikkat and zari sarees that are seen in Telangana. KTR said that the government of Telangana has been allocating a special budget and funds for the welfare of the handloom industry.
