Union Cabinet approves President Rule in Puducherry:- The Union Cabinet approved the rule of President in Puducherry. The Congress government failed to prove their strength earlier this week after which the decision was made. V Narayansamy's government fell into the minority after five MLAs of Congress along with DMK submitted their resignation. The strength of the Puducherry Assembly came down to 26 after the MLAs submitted their resignations in the mid of January. The alliance of Congress and DMK had 12 MLAs including the Speaker on the same side. The opposition party All India NR Congress led by former Chief Minister N Rangasamy has 14 MLAs on their side.

V Narayansamy was asked to prove his strength in the Puducherry Assembly house on February 22nd before the vote on the motion of confidence. He blamed Kiran Bedi, Lt Governor and the Centre for the crisis in Puducherry. The Union Territory is heading for Assembly polls in April this year. Now, the Centre introduced President's rule in this Union Territory after the opposition party was not interested to form the government as the elections are heading. V Narayansamy submitted his resignation as the Chief Minister of the state. All the parties of the state will now head for the election campaign once the election notification will be out. The Assembly elections in Puducherry are scheduled to take place in the mid of April or May this year.
