KCR Plans A New Barrage On Godavari River:- Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao paid his visit to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project at Medigadda, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district yesterday. KCR along with other Telangana leaders paid their floral tributes to the Godavari waters. KCR expressed his happiness on the project and discussed about the construction of a new barrage on the Godavari river at a point where Godavari and Pranahita will join. He feels that this barrage can help more water to be pumped. KCR said that the Kaleshwaram project has redrawn the irrigation map of the Telangana state.

"We are aiming to put an end to the harships of the farmers and ensure enough water for two crops a year. I thank everyone who worked with full efforts for the completion of the Kaleshwaram project. The other projects too will be constructed and completed with the same spirit. A technical survey was completed recently and it was decided to construct a new barrage at Medigadda with a storage capacity of 16.17 TMC on a height of 100 metres. This can help further water storage and water can be pumped for seven months in a year. The water is stored till 54 mns in Pranahita and 42 kms in Godavari river" told KCR.
