Election Commission has a shock for Telangana Government:- With the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls approaching soon, the government of Telangana is distributing the relief funds for every household who suffered due to the recent Hyderabad rains and floods. The crowds flocked to the meeseva centres to get the money. Every meeseva centre in the city is flooded with people and most of them flouted the social distancing norms. With the GHMC polls scheduled to take place on December 1st, the Telangana Election Commission asked the Telangana government to put a hold on the distribution of the flood relief funds to the people.

Telangana SEC Letter on Flood Relief Funds

Ashok Kumar- Secretary to Telangana state election commission penned a letter to the Telangana government informing the same. "Request you to put on hold the registration and distribution of relief to the flood-affected families in the GHMC limits till the declaration of results as it is attracting model code of conduct and likely to influence the electors. The direction was issued to the Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary to the government, Municipal Administration and Urban development. It is to note that hour before the direction was issued, the GHMC flood relief portal was temporarily disabled" told the letter.

The state government distributed the money to the households in the past but now the government wanted to register through meeseva centres to avail the benefits.
