Centre Promises to Clear Polavaram Project Dues:- As per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, the Centre announced Polavaram as a national project. After a series of unexpected episodes and incidents, the Union Finance Ministry agreed to clear the pending dues of Rs 2234 crores to the government of Andhra Pradesh. The payment would be made for the completed work. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy penned a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the pending dues. Andhra Pradesh government's advisor Subhash Chandra Garg made some serious allegations on Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister.

The Union Finance Ministry made it clear that it has no objections and the Polavaram Project Authority will soon clear all the pending dues for the government of Andhra Pradesh. AP Government mounted pressure on the Centre and the government of Andhra Pradesh urged the Centre to take over the project and complete it. As of now, the Centre is yet to respond about taking over the Polavaram project from the state. Andhra Pradesh government will now receive Rs 2234 crores for the completed Polavaram works and Rs 7053 crores for the adjustments that have been done for the year 2013-14 for Polavaram project.
