KTR Announces Telangana's Electric Vehicle Policy

KTR Announces Telangana's Electric Vehicle Policy:- Telangana IT and Industries Minister KTR unveiled the new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy for the state. Telangana is the third Indian state to have an electric vehicle policy after Gujarat and New Delhi. The policy was announced by the government of Telangana yesterday at the MCRHRD institute. KTR participated in the Telangana EV Summit and the government of Telangana inked a deal with Mytrah Energy. An MoU was signed in the presence of other dignitaries at the EV Summit. Mytrah Energy will set up an electric bus manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 2000 crores and it generates employment opportunities for 7000 people. KTR addressed the business and industry leaders gathered at the Telangana EV Summit being held in Hyderabad.

As per the EV Policy of Telangana, the road tax will be exempted for all the electric vehicles in the state and the registration fees for the first set of two lakh electric two-wheelers along with 20,000 electric commercial vehicles and 5000 electric cars and 500 electric buses is removed. All the electric vehicles purchased for commercial purposes will get special incentives in the state. The Electric Vehicle policy was approved in August. Several manufacturing and charging units will be set up in the state soon. Transport minister Puvvada Ajay, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, Mahindra and Mahindra MD Pavan Kumar Goenka, IT department principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan were present for the event.

ETO Motors will set up an electric vehicle manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 150 crores. Olectra also inked an MoU with the Telangana government. Olectra will set up an electric bus manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 300 crores and will provide employment opportunities for 3500 people in Telangana.
