Coronavirus Vaccine Trials Start In NIMS, Hyderabad:- Bharat Biotech already announced that the three phases of human clinical trials for their vaccine Covaxin to treat COVID-19 will happen this month. The trials finally started today in the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) today. The process got delayed by a week and two volunteers received the dose at 11:30 AM today. Both these male volunteers are kept under observation currently and they are healthy. The doctors clarified that they are responding well. A team of senior doctors from NIMS are involved in these clinical trials. Around 12 institutions are finalized to conduct the clinical trials of Covaxin.

Around 375 volunteers would be tested with the first dose of vaccine. After the hospital authorities received thousands of applications through emails, calls and messages, NIMS zeroed in candidates after their fitness was tested. Also the COVID-19 antibodies are tested in a Central lab before finalizing the candidates. NIMS would be conducting clinical trials on 60 candidates and the process takes a month. The trials in other parts of the country started recently and the response till date is extremely positive.
