Rs 5 Cr Seized From A Car In Chennai:- The Chennai cops seized cash worth Rs 5 crores in the denominations of Rs 500 from a car near the outskirts of Chennai yesterday. The incident took place at Elavur checkpost in Arambakkam near Gummidipoondi. The car had Coimbatore registration number (TN 66E 1166). The two passengers Vasanth, Lakshmi along with the driver have been taken into custody and they hail from Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. The biggest surprise is that the car had MLA sticker of Andhra Pradesh MLA Balineni Srinivas Reddy. The cash was seized by the cops and handed over to the Income Tax officials.

The cops had a tip about a cocaine smuggling after which they have been conducting searches at the check post. A cash of Rs 5.27 crores in four bags was found and seized. The people could not produce the valid documents for the cops and they even did not have a proper e-pass to travel. All the three people in the car are detained for investigation. The car owner has been summoned by the AP Income Tax officials. The officials clarified that the cash would be returned if the owner produces all the required documents before the Income Tax officials.

Balineni Srinivas Reddy responded about the incident after he came to know about the news through media. He said that the color xerox of his MLA sticker was misused. He also said that the car is registered in Coimbatore and demanded a detailed investigation in the incident.
