Gas Leak In Nandyal Kills One, Three Fell Ill:- Before the people of Andhra Pradesh could forget the horrific gas leak from LG Polymers in Vizag, one more incident took place. A 50-year-old employee died and three others fell ill after ammonia gas got leaked from an agro-industry in Nandyal. The incident took place in Nandyal town, Kurnool district today. The incident took place in SPY Agro Industries said G Veerapandian, the collector of Kurnool district. SPY Agro happens to be the subsidiary of the Nandi Group of Industries at Udumalpuram.

The ammonia gas leaked from a tank in the agro-industry. Srinivas Rao, the general manager of SPY Agro Industries passed away after inhaling the gas. There were five employees in the factory when the incident took place and three of them fell sick. Srinivas Rao died of suffocation and three others fell unconscious. They were rushed to Nandyal hospital and are recovering well. The smell from the factory created panic situation across the surrounding locations. Fire tenders are rushed to the spot.

Veerapandian said that all the safety measures are taken and things are under control. The officials confirmed that the gas leak was confined to the factory premises and it did not leak or spread out from the premises. SPY Agro Industries is producing 1,50,000 liters of grain neutral spirit per day from different grains. It is owned by Nandyal former MP late S P Y Reddy.
