Telangana Government Brings Ordinance To Defer Salaries Payment:- The Telangana government promoted Ordinance of Telangana Disaster and Public Health Emergency (Special Provisions) 2020 to make the special provisions for postponement of salaries payments, pensions and other payments in the disaster and public health emergency in the State. In this COVID-19 epidemic, the State government brought out this ordinance to allow the government to postpone of salaries payments, pensions and other dues.

As per, the State government has give authority to defer payments in part, due and payable to any institution or person. Similarly, it as been give authority to postpone the payments to the employees of government and pensioners and the other persons who are ready contract or outsourcing employees. The Telangana Disaster and Public Health Emergency (Special Provisions) Ordinance 2020 enables the State government to defer monthly pay payment, pension or remuneration to an employee, pensioner or other persons to an extent which is not exceeding half (50 per cent) that of the total monthly payment during such period. Similar rules are applicable to any institution which are owned or controlled or aided by the State government including college and schools teachers, universities, corporations, local self government institutions, aided educational institutions, statutory bodies and other such organisations.

Further, the Telangana Disaster and Public Health Emergency (Special Provisions) 2020 ordinance mandates the State government to pay the postponed amount within 6 months from the date of deferment. However, the State government will may make amendments in the ordinance. For necessary approvals, the State government will introduced this ordinance which was published in the State Gazette on Tuesday in the next session of the State Legislative Assembly and the Council.
