Telangana Municipal Poll Results: TRS Leading:- The Telangana Municipal Polls took place on Wednesday and the counting for the votes for 120 municipalities and 9 corporations in Telangana started today at 8 AM. Going with the early estimates, TRS is leading across all the municipalities. State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy said that the final results will be out by evening. 70.26% voter turnout was seen during the polls. Elections were held for 2971 wards across the state. Over 12,900 candidates tested their luck in the Telangana Municipal Polls. TRS is leading the list while Congress is giving tough competition in some of the wards.

As per the early estimates, Congress won 2 wards in Rangareddy district and TRS won 5 wards. The Election Commission asked the returning officers to declare the results only after the approval by the election observers. Counting of postal ballots is carried out first, followed by counting of ballot papers. For the first time in the country, the Election Commission used a facial recognition app to counter the impersonation of the voters. The pilot project was implemented in ten polling states in Kompally municipality. The State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday had ordered re-polling in three booths in Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts.

The final results of the Telangana Municipal Polls will be out by evening.
