Up To The Minute: NPR, NRC Decision Soon To Be Taken By Telangana Government:- The CM of Telangana, Chandrasekhar Rao shortly to talk about problems and his plan on implementing NPR and NRC, says KTR Rama Rao(the TRS President).
He mentions that TRS would extend their support only if the Centre considers Muslims and others from the three countries as minorities despite the party not in support of CAA in the Parliament.
In the press conference meeting with K Kesava Rao on Friday, KTR remembered that TRS had supported the NDA Government in the Parliament. K Kesava Rao quoted “ If there is any objection issue with NPR, we will oppose it”.
KT Rama Rao said, “ We have to sit together as a government, there is a cabinet, there is a chief minister, there are several constituents that need to be sounded off, issues that needed to be addressed....”
Rama Rao reiterated that they had said it loud and clear in the Parliament when there was a debate on the Citizenship Amendment Bill that they were not for excluding Muslims.
Since the details of NPR were not clearly available and the center needs clarification to their doubts, if they turn out true then they would oppose it, said Keshav Rao.
He quoted "NPR had come in 2010, 2003, updated in 2015 when details come, we will give correct answer after reading the details. Otherwise, as it is, on the face of it, we are opposed to it if the doubts are true”.
On Tuesday, after looking into the 2021 census, the Central Government made it clear that NPR and NRC don’t have a connection.
There is a possibility that TRS would discuss this by inviting parties who agree on the same.
Owaisi, a representative of the Muslim United Committee met KCR with regards to the NPR and pleaded them to work on the updation of NPR in Telangana similar to Kerala and is hoping for a positive decision after he noticed that the Chief Minister could clearly understand their request.
