Former Election Commissioner TN Seshan Passes Away:- Former Chief Election Commissioner Tirunellai Narayana Seshan passed away last evening in Chennai due to cardiac arrest. The 86-year-old Commissioner is known to be an icon of Indian bureaucracy and is known for his reforms in the electoral process in India. TN Seshan was 1955 batch Indian Administrative Service Officer from Tamil Nadu. He led the Election Commission of India from 1990 to 1996. TN Seshan is the tenth Election Commissioner of India. To clip his wings, the Centre appointed two additional Election Commissioners during his time. TN Seshan received the Ramon Magsaysay Award and was considered Asia's Noble for his work.

TN Seshan was born in Pallakad district, Kerala in 1932 and he joined Civil Services in 1955. In his long career, TN Seshan served as Secretary for several departments in Tamil Nadu. TN Seshan worked as Cabinet Secretary for Rajiv Gandhi. TN Seshan contested in the Presidential Election against KR Narayanan in 1997. Several politicians expressed their condolences on the sudden demise of TN Seshan. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "Shri TN Seshan was an outstanding civil servant. He served India with the utmost diligence and integrity. His efforts towards electoral reforms have made our democracy stronger and more participative. Pained by his demise. Om Shanti". Rest in peace TN Seshan.
