After Facing the Heat, YS Jagan Renames Back Abdul Kalam Award

After Facing the Heat, YS Jagan Renames Back Abdul Kalam Award:- A popular award which is named on APJ Abdul Kalam's name was remaned yesterday by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and a GO was issued. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar awards was renamed as YSR Vidya Puraskars in honour of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister. This created a huge outrage and AP Government, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy were badly criticised for the move. After facing the heat, YS Jagan projected himself to be intent and issued a GO asking the government to rename the award back to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar awards.

YS Jagan asked for the immediate cancellation of the Government Order. “Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered the officials to revoke the GO to change 'Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar Awards' to 'YSR Vidya Puraskar' after it had come to his notice. He warned the officials asking them to continue with Abdul Kalam's name" said the officials of Chief Minister's Office. Media and social media erupted with fire on the surprising move of AP Government yesterday. The awards are scheduled to be given to students who excelled in class tenth on November 11th.
