Karthi Chidambaram Calls his Father's Arrest a Malicious Act:- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials arrested former Union Minister P Chidambaram last night in the national capital. His son Karthi Chidambaram said that the entire drama was created to tarnish the image of Congress party and his father Chidambaram. Karthi Chidambaram said that his father had no connection with the case calling it a malicious, vindictive act. Karthi Chidambaram said that he would fight for his father in the court of law.

"The arrest was done to divert the attention of the ongoing Article 370 issue. The Centre has been facing the heat from the opposition parties and from the people of Kashmir" said Karthi. The officials had to scale the walls and the roof to gain access to the main door of Chidambaram's residence. The 73-year-old politician clarified through a press meet in Congress Headquarters hours before his arrest saying that he was aghast after he was accused of hiding the law. Chidambaram clarified that he would wait for the Supreme Court's hearing which is scheduled for Friday.
