KTR To Launch 20 Electric Vehicles For GHMC:- With several countries across the globe promoting electric vehicles to prevent pollution and save fuel, Indian Government is yet to initiate such plans. Setting up an example for many, Telangana Government decided to hire 20 electric vehicles for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials. On the eve of World Environment Day, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao revealed the news.

GHMC is hiring 20 electric vehicles at Rs 22,500 per vehicle on monthly basis which even includes the salaries of the driver. GHMC has been paying over Rs 34000 on diesel on hired vehicles. Hence to reduce the pollution and also the cost, GHMC decided to hire electric vehicles. GHMC Executive Engineer Srinivasa Chary revealed the news. Charging points are set up to make things comfortable. It takes over eight hours for each vehicle to be charged fully and the vehicle runs for over 100 kms. In the first phase, over 190 vehicles will be used after the 20 vehicles get introduced.
