Hyderabad HC Asks AP Govt About Politicians Who Participated In Cockfights:- Hyderabad High Court asked AP Government to restrict cockfights which are conducted during the Sankranthi season every year. Now the High Court expressed the displeasure over the failure of preventing cockfights in the state during Sankranthi celebrations. It said that the AP Government failed badly in restricting them. The court asked DGP and the Chief Secretary to explain why they failed to prevent the cockfights in the state even after strict and clear orders have been imposed. The High Court asked to disclose the names of the politicians who have been responsible and who have been a part of the blood sport. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan heard a plea after which AP Government has been questioned.
Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar appeared before the court while Director General of Police M. Malakondaiah sought exemption from appearing before the court. Hyderabad High Court asked the Chief Secretary and DGP to submit a complete report on the conducted cockfights in West and East Godavari districts. The court highlighted that the cockfights have been conducted across 800 locations in the region and it also asked to attest the registered cases and the details of the acccused. K. Ramchandra Raju filed a PIL after which Hyderabad Court responded accordingly.
