Official Now: Rahul Is The New President Of AICC:- India’s oldest national party All India Congress Committee has been facing tough time from the past couple of years. The party has been badly rejected across the country in the recent elections. With Modi’s wave all over, AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi who led the party for over two decades wanted to step down due to health issues. The party’s Vice President Rahul Gandhi took the charge now today and the official announcement arrived.

The Central Election Authority Chairman of Congress M Ramachandran announced the news that Rahul Gandhi is the new President of the party. "Eighty-nine nomination papers proposing the name of Rahul Gandhi for the Congress president have been received. All the nomination papers have been found valid. Since the withdrawal date/time is over and as there is only one candidate, as per Article XVIII (d) of the Constitution of the Indian National Congress, I hereby declare Rahul Gandhi elected as the president of the Indian National Congress," read the official statement.

The party received 89 nominations and all the nominations proposed Rahul Gandhi as their Chief. Rahul filed his nomination on December 4th and no other nominations have been filed.
