Rai said that in the last three years, the international price of crude oil has more than halved, but the petrol price has increased. The Central government, since it came to power in 2014, had increased the excise tax on petrol by 150 per cent.

The party volunteers assembled outside the regional office of Indian Oil in West Bengal and raised slogans. The party workers took out a march in protest of the high prices in Telangana also. In other parts of the country also, protests were taken out by party leaders.

The protests would be held across the nation from September 22 to 30 and on Tuesday, party leaders will ‘gherao’ the Union Petroleum Ministry.

The AAP volunteers will burn effigies of ‘Ravan of price rise’ in all 272 wards of Delhi, on September 30 (Dusshera).
