125 Ft Ambedkar Statue In Hyderabad To Be Ready By 2018?:- The State government’s ambitious project of erecting a 125 feet tall statue of BR Ambedkar and also development of Ambedkar Smriti Vanam in Hyderabad, will be inaugurated on December 6 next year, marking his birth anniversary.
By the end of November this year, global tenders will be invited and finalized for execution of the works.
The Cabinet sub-committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari which met on Tuesday, over the slow pace of the works pertaining to the statue as well as the memorial park expressed dissatisfaction. They sought an explanation from the officials over delay in execution of works even after five months after their study tour to China and Mizoram to examine the local memorials.
“It has been more than a year after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced the project on the occasion of Ambedkar’s 125th anniversary last year and yet there has been hardly any progress in the execution of works. It is time that the officials concerned took the work seriously or face the music,” the Deputy Chief Minister warned. The replicas of statue as well as memorial park, were presented before the sub-committee for examination.
A time frame for completion of the project, had been fixed by Srihari, starting with identification of the organization for preparing the statue and signing an agreement by this month end. While the detailed project report should be readied by August, the final plan will be approved by September.
Global tenders will be invited in October and will be finalized by the end of November. The statue as well as the memorial park would be completed within an year after the memorandum of understanding is signed with the organization concerned.
TSPSC chairman Ganta Chakrapani, MLA Aruri Ramesh, Special Chief Secretary for Scheduled Castes Development department Ajay Mishra, Special Secretary for Roads and Buildings Sunil Sharma, GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy, Ambedkar Smriti Vanam project director Ganapathi Reddy and other officials participated in the meeting.
